Sony is a world-renowned brand that delivers high-quality audio products. They offer a range of ANC wireless headphones and true wireless earbuds with cutting-edge technology that promises an immersive audio experience. Sony's Hi-Res Digital audio player provides audiophiles with high-resolution audio on the go. They also offer earphones with superior sound quality and a comfortable fit for extended listening.
My setup: Thieaudio Monarch MK3, paired with this Sony 707 unit, and music played from Apple Music.
Comparison with: my previous DAC/Amp Jcally AP98, Shanling M6 Ultra
Its been months since I've been using the 700 series portable music player of Sony's and finally got myself up to reviewing it.
So first question: why a DAP? For months, as I was using my AP98 dac/amp connected to my phone to listen to music, I came to realise a very obvious and quite irritating issue: the type-C connector is a nightmare when its wobbling in your pocket. It is not designed to stay tightly fixed. Mainly used for charging and data transfers, I don't think the engineers behind in ever factored the port being used to play music through an amp/dac. And when it is used to play music on-the-go, you'll reach a point when you'll constantly find it getting loose and disconnecting with your device. Especially if you listen to music while doing a lot of walking like I do. There's no point trying to listen to audiophile grade tunes when they are getting constantly disconnected. So, a change had to be made.
For those who don't know, a DAP is a full android environment in itself. Its basically if a phone was designed for one thing, and one thing only: to play music. You can download any android app on it (although it doesn't have a sim card), but you really shouldn't. These things chug a lot of battery to produce the sound that they need to. Slowing them down with other apps is not recommended.
Anyhow, how did this portable music player solve my issue? Well it has the typical 3.5mm audio jack, as well as the 4.4mm balanced output. Connect your IEM/headphone to them directly, and you say goodbye to any "loose" connections. Uninterrupted audiophile sound = happy audiophile.
So how is the device itself? Quite big actually. The length and width is similar to that of your phone, and its much thicker. Will need its own dedicated pocket. I had to do a bit of juggling of my pocket items when I got this, so that might annoy some people. After all pocket spaces are sacred, and this unit is going to force you to change your habit of what goes in which pocket.
So having had my pocket sanctity shredded, there is also another nitpick of how edgy the device is. You could literally use those metal-finished corners as a weapon. Apart from that I'd have also liked the buttons to be a bit more protruding, but thats fine. You don't usually change volume too much anyway.
So those slight negative bits out of the way, the device itself is very nice to hold. Has a gripping pad thingy on the back that makes it very good for my sweaty hands. The display is good, android environment is very operable. Its not your latest gaming mobile phone fast, but much better than old mobile phones.
Okay now that the boring bits are out, lets get to the real thing: Sound!
This is the first sony device that I've used, and now I absolutely get what the "Sony signature" means. Very musical. Very crystal. You'd expect such a signature to be more favouring towards the higher frequencies, but that's not the case. The device is actually slightly on the warmer side, but you can almost miss it because of how neutral the signature is.
Thanks to the Audio Store I've had the opportunity to try out lot of dac/amps & even DAPs, and this has without a doubt been the most neutral sounding unit I remember.
The resolution is brilliant. I mainly use the Monarch MK3s which are already known to be extremely detailed, but only after using this DAP did I feel that I was really starting to reveal the potential of the MK3s. In this department, its hands down better than the Shanling M6 & my old AP98.
The amplification might not be up to everybody's taste, even though this unit DOES have the High Gain option. You might have to turn the volume really up if you have something with very high impedance. Mainly talking about IEMs though, it should be able to play anything.
Where I feel that this player slightly lacks is the richness of sound. Sony has a very clear, detailed sound, but it can sound somewhat leaner, especially when compared to Shanling M6. Especially for someone like me who mostly listens to instrumental soundtracks. Even the little AP98 with high gain, and connected to a computer has a more voluminous sound. It is why I almost ended up picking the Shanling, but immense thanks to The Audio Store for letting me try the M6 unit for an entire day, after which I quickly realised that it was too bassy for me.
Overall I'm extremely happy with the purchase though. This is something I know I'll value for a very long time, even after I maybe try some other DAPs, because of how balanced the sound is. Sony's signature has grown on me, and I'm certain that some songs will only sound good to me now with this tuning.
Once again, big, big thanks to the Audio Store team for being patient & giving great advice for me to make the right decision.

from 4624 reviewsD32 is way better than expected. Sound imaging & separation is very good. Nice thumpy bass, crystal clear mids. Overall very value for money stuff. All bluetooth codec available. Supports aux in from DAP for hires audio. Fantastic overall.
For quite a long duration, I was looking for an budget IEM with a size that would perfectly sink within ear lobe and will not exert any pressure while being a couch potato , on one side. Atlast this is where the search ended.
Aurora is even a bit smaller in size than Sennheiser IE100 Pros, which were my only go to solution at late nights. I already referred to various other reviews about the sound signature of this tiny one, and was quite confident about the other end of the bargain any way. I will not be hence touch the audio signature stuff , since there are plenty detailed reviews on the youtube and many other forums already. It is the ergonomics which is mostly untouched area of any in ear type monitors, that was more profound for me in this case, for long duration of usage. Also liked the quality of the case supplied with , the whole package is absolutely incredible !
This iem fits like a glove, it is so well tuned. The sound profile changes based on what you plug it into.
I was searching for an IEM that fits comfortably for soo long and then I came acrosss this review by Acros. I immediately jumped on it as soon as he said it was light, because so many reviewers talk about how an IEM looks and sound signature and more but never about its weight and fit. He did a comparison with few similarly priced IEMS. This one when compared to Moondrop Aria which I have sounds awesome but it is a pain when wearing it for more that 30 mins. This one I have worn for 3 hours straight and nothing. Perfect for my needs.
I drive it with Fiio BTR3K specifically for the sound profile it offers, on the other ones it sounds too neutral. Thank you Audio Store for stocking this IEM.
Excellent delivery experience, it was a gift wrap.
My first time ordering from the audio store, really impressed.
And the device is marvelous.
Comfortable & Excellent quality. As per heard, i was looking adaptor for my Tangzu Warner sg wired IEM. This KZ AE01 fulfilled my needs for bluetooth adaptor. Music sound quality is good. Fitting is also fine. Call quality is little bit low.
Otherwise ok for bluetooth conversion of IEM.
It surely enhances all parameters of sound quality like stereo effects, vocals, all frequencies, soundstage and imaging.
I am saying it based on a week experience with multiple basic IEM like EPZ Q1 pro, Simgot EW 300 DSP, Moondrop chu 2 with hiby R4 DAP.
Highly recommended to upgrade existing budget IEM.
Although Cable is thick, its very much flexible and handy. No issues while handling and carrying it because of its thickness.
It's thickness enhances overall look of IEM.
Super Bass and ultra clear vocals in
affordable price..
REVIEW AFTER ONE MONTH DAILY USE
Initially, my set up was 'Samsung S 23 ultra + Simgot ew 300 DSP' for daily music listening hobby.
While upgrading from this set up, 1st I bought HIBy R4 DAP, used it for 10 days with same IEM and then decided to go for another big upgrade for iem. After trying existing iem on multiple phones, surprisingly I observed that 'Hiby R4 DAP' is superior even on high-end phones in terms of sound quality.
While upgrading IEM, I kept below criteria and told Mr. Pritam the same.
1. IEM with crystal clear sound with all details & balanced sound.
2. Ultra wide Soundstage & clear imaging
3. Clear stereo effect
4. It should separate Instruments sounds when there are multiple instruments in song/music.
5. It should handle bass heavy songs without compromising vocals & trebles.
6. Comfortable for long hours.
Now after using it more for one month, I can say that -THIS IEM HAS FULLFIELD EACH REQUIREMENT & ASPECT OF SOUND QUALITY.
Only downside I felt that Packaging and Case should be premium in this price tag.
EXPERIENCE WITH AUDIO STORE -
I had some options for IEM in my mind based on previous listening sessions at audio store office as well as youtube & web reviews.
I recently visited audio store office two times for some other product requirement, All those previous options, I tested all of them again. I found that Mr. Pritam's suggestion to buy MK3 over other IEMs is worthy.
Thanks a million Mr. Pritam for always helping & guiding before taking any major purchase.
Superb Cable!
Works well with Zero 2
Value for money product
I am very thank full
I really like the quality of the product not only that I really like your store Too
I want to work with your company as a employee please let me know if there is any openings
I'm an IEM guy and after a long time I've been really impressed with a speaker. And at such a fantastic price point. The sound is so smooth, you can listen to it for hours without feeling fatigued, and most important thing for me was, it sounds just as good on low volume when you want to listen to something in the background, but have guests and are going to talk over it.
Incredible separation. Very good stage, fills a 10x10 area nicely (with windows closed). Bigger area and you might feel the need for two of them (heh). Excellent details on both the bass and treble. This is very much a fun sounding speaker. Female vocals are slightly more recessed than the male ones, but the separation will ensure that they come through nicely nonetheless. Drums on this thing are just a blast (literally!). Strings are so melodious.
Last but not the least, looks are killer. Everyone notices it instantly (although it blends very well with the home decor) and asks what it is. Pick it up. You cannot go wrong.
This headphone needs some time to be given. I have sold these 2 times and bought again and now they are permanent in my collection. I now understand them and you need a seriously good amplification system and then they are much more of a lushfull/true/audiophile sound that surpasses almost all headphones under Rs. 50000 easily (including Hifimans).
It has a satisfying amount of bass
Crispy treble region and clean sound signature
Comfortable fit
Pair it with a good DAC and see the magic happen!!
Must have IEM!!
