JUZEAR Butterfly 61T IEM Review: Warm, Rich, and Musical Sound

Introduction

JUZEAR has recently unveiled the Butterfly 61T IEM, featuring a hybrid setup of 1 dynamic driver and 6 balanced armature drivers, priced at ₹20,990. Having previously experienced the JUZEAR 41T IEM, known for its warm sound signature, my expectations for the Butterfly 61T are naturally high. In this review, we'll explore the design, build quality, comfort, sound performance, and how it compares to other models in the market.

JUZEAR Butterfly 61T IEM Review

Design and Build Quality

True to its name, the Butterfly 61T exudes a sense of elegance with its butterfly-themed faceplate. The faceplate’s background is crafted from abalone shell, which shifts in color depending on the angle, adding a dynamic visual appeal. The butterfly wings are meticulously crafted from metal and adorn both faceplates, with the “JUZEAR” branding on the right and the logo on the left, all made from the same material. The cable is thick and durable, made from soft and flexible TPU material. However, the provided carry case is somewhat compact, making it a bit challenging to store the IEMs comfortably. Overall, the JUZEAR Butterfly 61T is a beautiful and sturdy piece of craftsmanship.

Comfort and Fit

The Butterfly 61T features a medium-sized shell with metal nozzles that extend deeper into the ear canal. The included eartips, made from silicone and memory foam, offer a good seal and excellent noise isolation. Despite the medium shell size, I found the Butterfly 61T to be very comfortable, allowing for long listening sessions without any discomfort or fatigue.

Sound Quality

For this review, I paired the Butterfly 61T with its stock cable using a 4.4mm balanced audio port and the stock silicone eartips, with the HiBy R4 as the source. The Butterfly 61T is an easy-to-drive IEM, but its performance scales impressively with a quality source. JUZEAR has aimed for a smooth, rich, and warm sound signature with the Butterfly 61T—a sound profile I could easily listen to all day. It offers detailed sound without being overly analytical, maintaining a balanced, engaging, and musical experience.

Bass

The sub-bass on the Butterfly 61T is slightly forward, delivering deep, textured, and warm bass with a smooth, punchy character. The bass is well-controlled, avoiding muddiness while maintaining its presence within the full musical arrangement. It’s balanced, with a good amount of quantity and quality.

Midrange

The midrange on the Butterfly 61T is wonderfully tuned, carrying the same warm energy, smoothness, and musicality. Male and female vocals are rendered with warmth and smoothness, free of any harshness. The vocals are thick, with a spacious arrangement of musical instruments. The tonality is slightly colored in a positive way, making tracks like “Tu Hi Re” from the movie Bombay an immersive experience.

Treble

The treble on the Butterfly 61T is crisp yet smooth, offering good detail and resolution. In the same track, “Tu Hi Re,” you can distinctly hear the “Chin, Chin” sound throughout the track without losing its weight or presence. The treble is musical and engaging without any sharpness or harshness, making it a very well-tuned IEM.

Soundstage & Imaging

The soundstage is holographic and spacious, with accurate and pinpoint imaging.

Value and Competition

The JUZEAR Butterfly 61T is priced at ₹20,990, positioning it against competitors like the Letshuoer Cadenza 4 IEM, which features a 1 dynamic driver and 3 balanced armature driver configuration.

Letshuoer Cadenza 4 vs. JUZEAR Butterfly 61T

Both IEMs have medium-sized shells, though the Cadenza 4 is more ergonomically designed. The Butterfly 61T offers a thicker and warmer sound compared to the Cadenza 4. In the bass department, the Cadenza 4 is more polite, while the Butterfly 61T delivers a more robust and rumbly bass. The midrange on the Cadenza 4 is more natural and detailed, while the Butterfly 61T focuses on smoothness and musicality. The treble on the Cadenza 4 is more detailed, sparkly, and shimmery, whereas the Butterfly 61T provides a smoother, more engaging treble. The Cadenza 4 offers a slightly wider soundstage.

Both IEMs cater to different audiences. If you prefer a more detailed and natural sound, the Letshuoer Cadenza 4 is a better choice. However, if you seek a warm, rich, and smooth musical experience, the JUZEAR Butterfly 61T is the way to go.
