SIMGOT SuperMix 4 In-Ear Monitors Review

Introduction

SIMGOT recently launched the SuperMix 4 Quadbrid IEM at Rs. 13,490 in India. This model features a unique driver configuration at this price point, consisting of one dynamic driver (DD), one balanced armature (BA), one planar magnetic driver, and one piezoelectric (PZT) transducer. Since its launch, the SuperMix 4 has gained popularity. Today, we'll explore whether it's worth the hype and who it suits best.

Design and Build Quality

The inner shell of the SIMGOT SuperMix 4 is made of black translucent resin, while the faceplate is crafted from a matte metal-finished material. The faceplate features a carved golden circle and a small air vent near the circle. The build quality of the shell is excellent, although the design is somewhat basic. I believe SIMGOT could have opted for a more aesthetic design. The cable is soft, flexible, and well-built, and the provided carrying case and eartips are also decent.

Comfort and Fit

The shell size of the SIMGOT SuperMix 4 is medium, with an ergonomic design for comfort and fit. The stock eartips are of good quality, and I experienced no issues during long music sessions. The shell is lightweight and doesn't create any pressure in the ears. Overall, the comfort and fit are commendable.

Sound Quality

I used the SIMGOT SuperMix 4 with the stock eartips and cable, paired with the HiBy R4 digital audio player. Initially, I was skeptical about its sound due to the exotic driver configuration and reasonable price, expecting it to be harsh, sharp, and very bright. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The SIMGOT SuperMix 4 sounds smooth, detailed, and natural. The bass is well-controlled, vocals are outstanding, and the treble is detailed and smooth, providing a grand and rich sound presentation. It's an easy-to-drive IEM, compatible with mid-fi level portable DACs and dongles for on-the-go music enjoyment.

Bass

The sub-bass in the SIMGOT SuperMix 4 is balanced and controlled, with a more mid-bass-forward tuning. It may not suit bassheads seeking powerful sub-bass, but those who appreciate controlled and tastefully tuned bass will enjoy it. Using Spinfit W1 eartips can further enhance the bass performance.

Midrange

The vocals on the SIMGOT SuperMix 4 are stunning, making it suitable for both male and female tracks. The midrange has good weight and body, with no thinness. The vocals are forward but not overly so, offering a smooth and realistic sound performance. This IEM is ideal for midrange lovers, with no noticeable sharpness in the upper midrange.

Treble

The SuperMix 4 delivers detailed, smooth, and musical treble, effortlessly maintaining the natural tonality of instruments. The treble edges strike a balance between crisp and smooth, providing dynamic and energetic sound without being too bright. This well-tuned treble performance will be appreciated by most audiophiles.

Soundstage & Imaging

The soundstage of the SuperMix 4 is wide, avoiding the sensation that everything is playing inside your head. The imaging is accurate, giving a sense of directionality to the sound. The SuperMix 4 offers a holographic sound experience.

Value and Competition

Priced at Rs. 13,490 in India, the SuperMix 4 stands out in its price range. I've previously used the Kinera Celest Phonixcall and SIMGOT EM6L, but comparing them wouldn't be fair due to their different driver configurations. The SuperMix 4 deserves a special place in the sub-Rs. 15,000 IEM segment for its unique quadbrid driver setup and well-balanced sound signature.
